Late Night Art Studio

Last night Bill got called into work early (four hours early) so right after crab cakes and potatoes he left. Since Ike took a four hour nap, I knew that we'd probably be up a little later than usual. So what is a mother to do when she's exhausted and sleep deprived . . . paint of course! Artwork to the rescue. Ike and I crammed ourselves into the cozy laundry room and he painted on his paper and I painted on the walls (probably not the best example for a three year old -- painting on the walls that is). He kept telling me what a good job I was doing, but couldn't figure out why i would rather paint flowers than a rocketship up high on the wall for him. Sorry, buddy. So after I was finished for the night Ike still wanted to paint. I let him finish up his art project in the kitchen then finally got that much needed sleep.

I'll post another picture of my laundry room garden when it is complete.

Preparing for Baby Girl

I found this cute little sweater set at the antique store a couple weeks ago and LOVED it. Since Baby Girl will be arriving in chilly February I had to get it. Anyway, she is progressing nicely at about 13 1/2 inches and around a pound and a half. We have around a hundred days before we get to meet her!

New Traditions

My Grandma moved into town back in August and once she settled in we decided to start a new tradition -- Saturday Supper at her house and a game of cards afterwards. It makes for a very eventful evening. Over dinner she shares stories of her childhood back in Michigan and how wonderfully simple life was. She talks of the Depression, her children, and her "glorious" college days over her scrumptious pot roast. Tomorrow is Saturday and we are looking forward to getting together for another Sabbath dinner. It's my turn to cook (or should I say the local Mexican restaurants turn). I know the food won't be as delicious as her home baked wonders, however, the conversation and company will be most delightful.

Anyway, if anyone doesn't have the blessing of a grandparent in town, there is always room for one more at Grandma's table.

Under the Weather

We've got the sniffles and sore throats today. Ike woke up at 4:00 this morning with a bad cough. So we got up and I made a tray of fruits, juices, vitamins, water, lemon and honey water, etc. and we headed back to bed to watch movies and rest. We've spent the majority of the morning laying in bed and relaxing.

Big Helper

As soon as I start loading the sink up with water and bubbles Ike comes running to help. He does a really good job too!

Oregon Coast

The sisters and I packed up the ever-so-excited kids and hard-working husbands (and of course Grandma) and headed over to Lincoln City, Oregon for a few days. We stayed at this wonderful house where there was room for all! The best part of the house was it's terrific view of the ocean and direct access to the beach. We made good use of such great accommodations!
Ike LOVES the ocean and now that we are home asks if we are going to the ocean every day. It's never too early to turn a child into a beach-lover!
Baby Girl Parramore is now a foot long. We still have 111 days to go!
