Funnies

I was helping Isaac with his homework and corrected him for an answer that I thought was wrong. When I looked closer I saw that he had written it correctly just not very neatly so I apologized for my mistake. He answered, "Oh! You need to get glasses so you can see better."

After pushing Kate on the swing for a long time I asked if she was getting hungry for dinner. Her reply, "Surely not!" She could swing all day.

Little Kate (age 4) took a tumble of the counter stool and through her tears she exclaimed, "I lost my dignity!"

Noah

Noah, a few days shy of two years old, took a four hour nap. During that time, I'm pretty sure he downloaded a fair amount of information. He woke up counting to eleven. He now sings several new songs. And in his manliest, most confident voice calls for me, "Hey, Babe!"

Ike

After loading up the car and rolling out of the Costco parking lot, Ike said, "Dad! Let's juice this baby up!" We didn't know what he was talking about so we asked. Apparently it means to gas up the truck.

Most Important?

Bill has been reading the kids a Bible story after dinner. A couple nights ago he read them the story of Adam and Eve. At the end Bill quizzed them on what he read.

"Who was the most important man that God created?" Bill asked.

Isaac quickly responded, "SANTA CLAUS!"

Hmmm . . .

Little Money

Ike got birthday money from Pop Pop in the mail yesterday. He asked us if it was enough to buy Otis (a pug dog). I explained to him that it wasn't enough and he'd need to keep saving. Obviously I didn't explain it very well because this morning he was trying to convince me that "Otis is a little dog and little dogs only cost a little money. Big dogs cost big money and all I want is a LITTLE puppy." Kid logic is so pure and sweet. Hopefully he'll understand that different things cost different amounts whether big or small by the time he has to buy his girl a diamond;)

Locked

Kate (age two and a half) found a package of unopened graham crackers in the pantry. After unsuccessfully trying to open it she handed it to me, "It's locked, Mommy!"

Germ Game

Isaac came into my room this morning and woke me up. He whispered, "Mom, can we play the germ game?" Yesterday he was given the Bed Bugs game for his birthday;)

Kitty

Last night after putting Kate to bed Heidi hears Kate quizzing herself:
"Who's the President of the United States?"
"Obama."
"That's right!"
"Yay!" and of course she claps for herself!

¡Ayúdeme!

While stuck behind the couch I hear Kate call, "Ayudeme! Ayudeme!" Thank goodness for our Spanish nanny Dora!

Baby Cakes

We call Kate "Baby Cakes" all the time. We also put "Baby" in front of Noah's name. So imagine what goes through our two-year-old's brain. Today she saw Bill and said, "Hi, Baby Daddy!"

Please or Not to Please?

Wyatt: "Vicki, did you know that you're beautiful?"
Me: "Thanks, Buddy,"
Wyatt: "Yeah, my Mommy teached me that gets me more than just 'please'!"

Funny

Isaac noticed that Noah's heat rash had disappeared today. "Mom, what happened to his spots?"

~

Aunt Michelle took Isaac to the Build and Grow workshop at Lowes today. He came home with a bird feeder which he promptly filled with seeds and set outside. "Birds, come get your lunch!" he called. He sat there for a bit waiting to see the birds:)

Baby Brothers are Fun!

Ike snuggled with baby Noah on the couch last night.

"Awww, Mom, he's perfect!" he said regarding his baby brother. His eyes showed some deep thinking going on in his five-year-old mind. He tilted his head and asked, "Is he God?"

~

Today I put Kate in the truck first before heading out with the other two.

Kate pointed at Noah's seat and said, "Baby Nono please!"

~

Well, I'm off to clean up the bag (quite a full bag mind you) of Cherios that Kate just dumped on the floor . . .:) Yesterday it was hot chocolate packets . . .

Kitty Says . . .

Today Kate started counting.

"Uno, doce . . . QUATRO!" (Pardon my Spanish spelling.)

~

Kitty found a bag of fruit snacks tucked away in the pantry and got really excited.

"What do you say?" I asked. I thought I was prompting for the magic word "please."

"BILL!" she exclaimed.

Hmmmmm

After returning from the hospital Isaac noticed that my tummy wasn't exactly flat.

"Mom?" he asked with wide eyed wonder. "Your tummy is growing again. Do you have another baby in your tummy?"

Yeah, that's a little motivation for that Ab Ripper X we have floating around here. Not anytime soon though . . .

Transform!

This morning I told Ike to get dressed when a couple of minutes later I hear lots of "transformer" sound effects. He was transforming from a jammie boy to a school boy:)

Speech

A few days ago I sat Ike down and gently told him we were going to see the "speech teacher." I let him know that she wanted to talk to him to see if she could help him talk better. He had a few questions and seemed fairly uninterested.

So the other morning I was trying to tell Ike something when he turned around and said, "I can't hear you. There's something wrong with my voice."

You Look Wonderful

Yesterday morning I walked out of my room to a very chipper Isaac eating his breakfast.

"Mommy," he says without removing his eyes from my expanding waistline,"you look wonderful!"

To him the bigger I get, the closer he is to having a "pet" brother. He's so excited!

Out of Ike's Mouth

Ike says: "Mommy, Jesus lives in my heart . . . and my tummy!"
