Our Space

Our room is a little on the cozy side, but that doesn't mean we can't make it luxurious! I really like how it turned out -- a little retreat!

One Size Fits All

Okay so I am a little disappointed in the cloth diapers I got for Miss Kate. I don't think it's rocket science here, but I can't figure out how to make them smaller. They are supposed to be for infants and toddlers with snaps to make them adjust to the different sizes. Obviously the diapers are WAY too big for her and probably way too big for Ike too and he's almost four! Ugh! I was so disappointed that I headed out to Yokes that night to get some Seventh Generation disposables. The good news is that they were on sale! Five dollars a pack to be exact! I bought all of them:)

Go Get 'Em Tiger!

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

The dryer is tumbling, the wash machine washing it's fifth load of the day, the baby is snoozing in the swing, and Raechel Ray is behind me cooking up something delicious. My wonderful Monday is in full swing.

Ike has had a busy day. Aunt Michelle took him to swimming lessons this morning. In a week he has made serious progress -- from screaming to laughing. Whatever his instructor is doing, she is doing something right! He came home all giggles and what's more is that he's so proud of himself! Bill and I haven't gone to watch him swim yet (apparently they learn a little faster if the parents aren't there to feel sorry for them), but tomorrow we are going to go watch him! He is so ready to show us what he has learned. We'll post some pictures after tomorrow.

Like I mentioned earlier, the wash machine has been going nonstop today. Among the contents are the new cloth diapers the UPS man dropped by this afternoon. I googled "chemicals in diapers" recently (do the same if you dare) and decided that I was going to try cloth. I haven't ever used cloth yet, but decided to give it a whirl. I'll let you know how I like them. Heidi (sister) uses the Bum Genius diapers and G diapers and LOVES them. She's inspired me to try too. Hey! I stay home all day so what's one more load of laundry a day?:)

Wyatt is here today (snoozing at the moment) and he came bearing gifts for everyone! Fresh fruit! We all sat around and ate delicious, juicy peaches! Even Kate (peach puree)! "Mmmmm," she says and grabs the spoon for more!

Well, Bill and Ike are out golfing so I better take advantage of this rare quiet moment!

Just Breathe

Our house was a bit empty in the food department so I got brave. Brave to me is heading to Walmart (chaos itself) and bringing the kids along just to make sure I wouldn't get bored. I know there are many people out there who take their kids to the store ALL the time with no glitches -- that's not me. In my case there are ALWAYS glitches.

Walmart isn't convenient like Costco (where they have carts big enough for two kids to sit in the cart *sigh*). Today Ike had to "walk" because we needed to do some serious shopping so there would be no room in the cart. Okay, I'm going to stop here with my story and ask a question: Who has a three year old boy who WALKS? Not I!

We ran through Walmart and yet it still seemed to take twice as long as usual. Ike pulled the cart when I stopped to look at items. He pulled things off the shelves and threw them in the cart. Now I don't know about you, but I have no use for smashed eggs or squished bread. If you have any recipes that call for such ingredients, please do share.

Now, mind you, my dear sweet boy was trying his very best to be helpful. Despite some obvious frustration on my part, I did see this and let him know how grateful I was for his help. And I am very proud to report that I didn't have to use his middle name . . . . *sigh* I need classical music and a hot bath . . . or better yet, a day at the spa!

Heidi, you should have just stayed here and we could have done these adventures together:) Four kids would be fun!

Showers of Blessings

Ike has been growing so quickly that I can hardly keep up! I recently noticed that Ike's clothes were "shrinking" so the sisters and I headed out to do some shopping! I found a few things while we were out and came home to find two HUGE bags full of little boy clothes by my front door! WOW! What timing!

I've read a few blogs lately about people who have been experiencing random acts of kindness -- by angels if you will. Now my investigation is underway to find out who my angel is! Hmmm. Who can it possibly be??? I'm no investigator, but I am going to try and put some of the pieces together.

I have one friend who just got her son a new dresser. I know this because she blogged about how he tried to hammer his new dresser in an attempt to help his mom put it together! Just a guess here, but I am going to say that I believe my angel is a tall, gorgeous brunette named Nicole:) Am I right??? I do so appreciate the kindness! Now I have to start contemplating what I am going to do to pay it forward . . .

I just might be the luckiest girl! I've been on the receiving end of many blessings recently! My sweet and charming husband puts his love in his actions and has been grocery shopping and running errands for me. He's also a super house cleaner and laundry folder! My sister Heidi is in town and has been blessing us with her company and helping me keep house. My sister Michelle has blessed me with coffee -- quite a few times this past week. My Mom has had us over to enjoy her park-like backyard and ice cream (which Ike just adores both) . . . And she came over today and put the babies to sleep for us! Grandma had us over for a delightful dinner. And sweet and lovely Mardi gave me a sweet letter and gift which I still am in shock over. Wow! I sure do love being me! And I sure do love all my family and friends!

Oh, What a Beautiful Morning . . .

This morning I woke up to a little voice repeating, "Sorry I make a mess, Mommy."

"That's okay. I'll clean it up." I respond quite grogily. I hear this phrase a lot. Sometimes it's a big mess, but most of the time it's just something small.

Somehow I got my weary body out of bed to find . . . a BIG mess! Juice was spilled (purposely I'm sure as the evidence of smooshed juice boxes reveal he was trying to get every last drip out of two juice boxes) all over the wood floors. It was not just spilled in one spot mind you, but it was ALL over. Two little boys seemed to have a delightful time dancing in the juice.

Well, it's not unusual around here to wake up and have to start right in on the housecleaning. So I got to cleaning and wiped up the sticky mess. I thought I did a fairly good job, but as I walked to the computer my feet were sticking to the floor. This is only a small portion of my morning . . . I've been following two little boys around all morning, wiping smelly little bums, kissing little ouchies, and being bossy (but I dare say the bossiness has saved us from what could have potentially been a trip to the ER). Thank goodness for coffee and story time! Coffee makes me a better mother and story time keeps two very busy boys occupied in an undestructive way.

Well, Alex has climbed onto the countertop and Isaac is about to. Gotta run!

Wyatt Loves the Babies!

Aren't they adorable?
"Oh, I love you Baby Isabelle." He's so content to just sit there and hold the baby.
Telling Kate about her soothie.
He likes to give Kate her soothie when she gets fussy.
He even takes care of the baby doll. What a guy! He's so helpful!

How Divine

Kate looks as if she has a splitting headache.
Cousin Isabelle Mackenzie lounges in her new swing. How cute!

Guess What We've Been Reading?

Me: "Would you like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?"
Ike: "No, I do not like that, Sam I Am."

Perfectionist Pressures

Well, it's now the wee hours of the morning and I find myself unable to sleep.

For most of the evening (and many past evenings), I have been trying to write a letter about my sister, her husband, and the little girl they long to adopt. The letter is for the judge and makes an impact (however great or small) on the outcome of the hearing on the fifteenth of this month. I am stressing over every word and hoping that the words I write express exactly what I see and feel about the matter. I have so many stories I want to tell and facts I want to write, but I am having the worst time getting it on paper. Ever have that problem? I guess I want it to be just right (I am by no means a perfectionist, but with this I want so much for it to be perfect). I am sure it will get lost in the mix of ALL the other letters everyone else has written, but even so . . . Michelle is my sister and want to make sure I get across what most other people might not be able to. Thanks goodness I am not a perfectionist -- I am having one moment of being a perfectionist and am caving under the pressure. Well, Michelle, I mostly just want you to know that I am not avoiding writing the letter, I just want it to be perfect for you.

Kennel?

After spending a week at Aunt Heidi's house, Ike got quite used to bossing the boxers around. When we came home and Wyatt came over, the two got in a scuffle over some trains. I came to intervene only to hear Ike trying to resolve it himself. "Kennel, Wyatt! Kennel!"
