Homeland Security

Ike, in all his boyness, made a sword out of a stick (it really belongs on the easel, but a little imagination makes this the shiniest sword I've ever seen). I wasn't aware that when you have a little boy you also get a little home security man. I have to say that his cute little face and inside out jammie pants don't really make him look scary, but beware! This boy is a warrior for sure! Perhaps "homeland security" isn't something he's quite ready for -- I think they have height, weight, and age requirements . . . at least one should be out of a booster seat:)

To Wear Skinny Pants . . . or not to . . .

Today I feel like Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) from the Dick Van Dyke Show. I bought a cute little pair of ballet flats and put my hair in a flip. Of course she looks good in those cute tiny skinny pants. With this new shape my body morphed into . . . well, I'm just not ready for those yet (and most likely when I am ready for those pants they will be out of style). Anyway, I feel like putting a vintage flowered apron on and doing some "housewiving" (and throwing in some singing and dancing . . . which would probably seem a little scary to some, but my kids aren't in the judgemental/mom is embarrassing me phase yet so I should probably do it while I can). My house could really use some attention and the kids are napping so I should take advantage of spending time on the house while not taking any time away from the little Loves.

Lombard Street

Bill driving down Lombard Street. It probably would have been more fun in a sports car, but Bill doesn't seem to mind. Just click on this picture to enlarge it and you will see his enthusiasm.

Pier 39 San Francisco

The view
Here we are!
Kate's here too!
Affectionate "little" creatures
My Guys
Alcatraz (and if I spelled it wrong it wouldn't surprise me)

Boy Cousins

Alex fell asleep even though we had a dvd player with Thomas playing almost nonstop.
Ike's excited to be with his friend/cousin Alex.
I highly recommend clicking on this picture to enlarge it. You can see the pure joy on both of their faces.
Thomas Town was the only place we went to at Six Flags. It was way too hot and the boys weren't feeling well. Doesn't Bill look cozy?!
Here are the little fellas in Aunt Heidi's room watching Thomas (yet again). They were sick all week and this was a way to get them to rest.

Cousins

Here are the girls ready to go out shopping. Grandma's blankets, swoopie bangs, and pacifiers are all the rage these days.
Bella does great in the car. She's awake for only the first couple minutes of a drive so I had to catch her with her eyes open quick!
Kate loves the bright blanket. She had lots of fun getting her hands to cooperate so she could feel the textures.
Cousins hanging out in the motel in San Fransico. Bella likes her arms swaddled and her feet free . . . Kate likes the opposite.
When we went out people thought we had twins. However, once we pulled the blankets off the carseats it was obvious we had a distict age difference. Kate's now a solid and healthy 15lbs!

Ike helps make coffee

Ike likes to help me make a latte so I gave him one of his own. He'd rather just add cinnamon and coffee grounds and stir. Making it is more fun than drinking it.

Mexican Casserole Recipe

For Heidi

1 1/2 ground round (I use ground turkey)

1 small onion chopped

1 small can chopped black olives (I eliminate these)

1 package taco seasoning

3 small can tomato sauce (I use two 15 oz cans)

1/2 pint small curd cottage cheese

1 1/2 pint sour cream

1 package tortilla chips

Jack cheese (I use whatever I have be it cheddar or mozarella)

Saute ground round and onion. Add olives, taco seasoning mix, and tomato sauce. In a seperate bowl combine cottage cheese and sour cream and set aside. Crush tortilla chips to form crust in a two quart greased casserole dish. Cover with 1/2 meat mixture. Spread 1/2 sour cream mixture on top of that. Cover with grated jack cheese. Add other half meat mixture then creamy mixture. Top with remaining cheese. Cook at 375 for 40 minutes or until bubbly.

The picture above is before it's baked so it will be a pretty golden color when cooked!

Happy Feet

Ike and Wyatt "Vacuuming"

Aren't they creative??!!

Stuffy

Kate's a little stuffy this morning so of course I dressed her in sweat pants. There really is nothing like being sick so I like to make her as comfortable as I can. She's still a happy girl though!

Rose Garden

I went out this morning and took a few pics of the roses growing up into my windows.

Chit Chat

The other day I was driving Kailey home from Grandma's house and heard her little voice.

"Aunt Vicki," she asked, " are you lost? And you have to say 'yes' so I can help you."

Of course I played along, but I didn't exactly take the exact turns as I was told.

~

Today we were driving to Ethan's birthday and Isaac inquired as to whether Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jeff were coming.

"No, Uncle Jeff is sad so he's staying home and Aunt Michelle is going to take care of him." I replied.

"Oh," Ike responded with a sad little voice. "Poor Jeff."

~

The other night Ike was telling me about Carl. He knows that when Carl comes to our house he makes something beautiful. Carl has given us beautiful wood floors, new countertops, and a freshly tiled bathroom floor so Ike (using hand motions along with his story) says, "Carl makes this and Carl makes that!"

"Yes, Carl makes our house beautiful," I agree.

"Hmmm," Ike thinks out loud. "Carl makes another baby!"

I chuckle a little at the thought. Carl and his wife have three beautiful little girls ages 2 and under, but I'm sure another one would be welcomed warmly! We'll have to wait and see if Ike is right:)

Oh what a day!

I was trying to write in my blog earlier, but it kept translating my writing into some unknown language. Weird.

Well, I knew today would be a great day when I went through the Starbucks drive thru and their register was down. Yes, that translates into an "on the house" order of strawberry frapachino for Ike and a latte for me. How lovely! I was going to use the gift card my wonderful sister gave me, but didn't have to. It is still loaded! Guess I'll take my little man out for another date some other time!

When Ike and I got home from our little date, my Mom called and invited us over for lunch . . . AND dinner! Whew! It must be my lucky day! Not an ounce of cooking is to be done! On to top it off, my Mom has friends in town visiting that we'll get to meet.

My sisters both have cameras for their computers so I got to view and chat with my sister in Reno. I haven't got to do that before. It was really neat because we could see her adorable little son Alex play with his beloved trains and we could hear the coos of Isabelle. How fun! What an all around fantstic day!

Just Me?

Is it just me, or do we nursing mothers eat all day long? I am pretty sure that I passed up my 2000 calorie daily allowance after second breakfast. Yep, that's right SECOND breakfast. Hmm, this may be the reason why I could barely dance my way into my jeans yesterday . . . not to mention that zipping them up wasn't even an option. Ahhh, how grateful I am for sweat pants.

Postpartum bodies are just plain commical. I was a fortunate girl. My pregnancy pounds weren't anywhere to be found a week after the births. But what kind of body did I transform into? Optimus Prime? Megatron? Certainly not! I am squishier than the Pillsbury doughboy.
